About the Site

Focus Organic.com was purchased with the intent of creating a website based on organic information and items. While doing research for the site, however, I decided I really wanted to write not just about organic topics, but about more general eco-friendly topics as well. There is so much to learn and to write about that I couldn't leave out so much!

My name is Stefanie, and I started Focus Organic.com. I am currently trying to live a more green life myself, and I hope to share what I learn with the visitors of this site, and to also learn from the visitors. In learning to be more eco-friendly, we can better ourselves, our lives, and the planet. Implementing even just small changes into your daily living can help to make a big difference, and my hope is that, with this site, you may learn something new and decide to make your life more green, as well.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please feel free to comment on the front page or use the form on the contact page.

About the Authors

While I (Stefanie) post the most here, Focus Organic has a few wonderful voices that also contribute to the site.

  1. me.jpgStefanie Slater is the main author at Focus Organic. She enjoys being outdoors, the ocean, family, Autumn in New England, tea and rye toast, macaroni and cheese, pondering the meaning of life, trying to sound more articulate than she is, her kitties, horror movies (especially zombies) and mysteries, and the scents of baking apples and cinnamon. She is married and living in St. Louis with her husband, but desperately wants to move home to CT.

  2. Andrew.jpgAndrew Slater is Stefanie's husband. He's gotten into the green lifestyle with Stefanie since Focus Organic was started, but he is especially interested in it's influence on the electronics world - he's a bit of a gadget geek. You might see him around the site here and there, mostly to talk about anything gadget related, and being mentioned by Stefanie.

  3. joie.jpgJoie Tamkin a fun loving California girl, now living in Texas. With her spoiled childhood of growing up on the beaches in San Diego she gained a huge respect for the environment. She knows going green isn't easy, but there is a little bit of green in all of us.

  4. Mike.jpgMike Lieberman does his best to live a simple life in a complex city. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, went to school in Philly and moved back to NYC in the end of 2007. Lieberman supports the green movement, but thinks a lot of the information out there is too complex for people to digest and execute in their daily lives. His web sites show people how to become more "green" without totally changing their lives - UrbanOrganicGardener and SimplyRawRecipes. You can follow him around the web under the user name CanarsieBK and check out his full portfolio of sites on CanarsieBK.com.

  5. Jessica.jpgJess lives in Coronado, CA with her two pure energy little boys and enjoys the healing properties of sunshine and year-round fruits and vegetables. She loves the laid back San Diego vibe and has a slight addiction to yoga. After a lot of travel and soul searching, her true spiritual awakening occured when she became a mother. She awakened to a deeper pursuit of wellness and has been moving full steam in making lifestyle changes and studying regularly. While studying holistic health and deepening her yoga practice, she writes about the enlightened awareness that comes from this path. Explore her life lessons with her articles of well being as she possesses a strong sense of curiosity and desire to share with others. Her mission is to heal the world from the inside out and show others that they can do the same. Read more posts of hers at her blog Sustainable Halo.

  6. Jeanne.jpgEco-centric, home birthing mother of three, marketing director and contributor for Organic Lifestyle Magazine, and Green Lifestyle Magazine, Jeanne Weierheiser has always been concerned about the environment and health. She practices what’s often called “alternative health” (though she would call it “common sense” health), and is very conscious of what her family consumes. Jeanne believes that in a capitalist society every dollar spent is a vote cast.

  7. wastecare.gif

Robert Simpson posts on behalf of WasteCare, a recycling and waste management company based in the UK, for Focus Organic. WasteCare helps waste producers to manage and report their waste, regardless of the type, volume or location.
