Taking Action and More

Today's blog carnival is postponed until next week. I forgot (again!) to update the blogcarnival.com listing until the end of last week, so we got fewer entries than we should have. The entries started coming in after I updated the listing, so this week and next week's carnival entries with be posted next Monday.

Today I've got some sites for everyone to visit, petitions to sign, and some links for those of you who also run eco sites.

Ideal Bite

If you haven't joined Ideal Bite yet, you definitely should. If you haven't heard of it, it's a newsletter that provides free green tips to your inbox daily. They have the general tip newsletter, which is what I'm signed up for, as well as quite a few city specific newsletters. They will soon be coming out with even more city specific newsletters, as well as one for the UK and one for Canada, and in Novemeber, will be coming out with a newsletter for moms. Sign up for one, or all of them!

Plant a Tree

iChapters is another company that sells ebooks. For every fan of iChapters facebook that signs up by the end of today, they will plant a tree. Too late for that? Take their Plant a Tree Quiz and they will plant a tree for every 10 questions you answer correctly.

Petitions

There are lots of worthy petitions out there, but I am only going to list a few here. If you want more, check out ThePetitionSite.

• Stop the Eleventh-Hour Assault on Endangered Species - It may be the eleventh hour of the Bush/Cheney Administration, but that's not stopping their efforts to undermine the Endangered Species Act.
• Urge Congress to Permanently Protect the Arctic Refuge! - We need to permanently protect the Arctic Refuge! Urge your Representative to support the Udall-Eisenhower Arctic Wilderness Act (H.R. 39) to permanently protect the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
• Clean Energy, Not Drilling - Tell Congress - Despite the loud rhetoric coming from Newt Gingrich and the pro-drilling crowd, we can't drill our way out of our energy problems.
• Keep Dangerous Chemicals Out of Everyday Products - Tell Congress to ban BPA and any other potentially harmful chemical from products that serve as gateways to our bodies.
• Support the PAW Act - End Alaska's Aerial Hunting Program! - Rep. George Miller (CA) has introduced the Protect America's Wildlife (PAW) Act, legislation to close a federal loophole and curb Alaska's brutal aerial hunting program -- and prevent programs like it from spreading to places like the Greater Yellowstone region.
• Save America's Last Wild Forests - Please sign our letter to stop this 11th hour effort to open Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Forests to more drilling, mining, logging and road-building.

All Green Blogs is a site that republishes your RSS feed, with your permission of course. This is a great way to get your site more traffic by getting your articles out there in front of more eyes. Worried about duplicate content? Set your feed to excerpts only, or use the DualFeeds plugin for WordPress. With this, you can have one full feed for your readers, and one excerpts only feed to have listed with All Green Blogs.
Best Green Blogs is a huge green site directory. The owner is currently fixing the site from a database failure, so they are not currently accepting new listings, but keep checking back! Directories are another great way to get your site our there.
