Kate says, "In Florida, a certification program and a non-profit help the hospitality industry go "green". The State allow its contractors to stay only in hotels that are certified in its Green Lodging Program to ensure that the lodging houses are eco-conscious in their water and energy conservation, waste reduction, and clean air practices. The Clean Water Organization, on the other hand, collects used soap from hotels in Central Florida, breaks it down & then delivers it to Third World countries suffering from disease caused by a lack of proper hand-washing procedures."

    I have to say... I'm impressed. We are trying to do some gardening, raising chickens and solar energy (ok, the solar stuff is slated for spring, as are some goats).

    I like the idea of being self-sufficient, and not relying on unknown sources for food, power, etc.
