Jill over at Frugal Plus is running a giveaway for the book Smart Mama’s Green Guide by Jennifer Taggart. Check out her review and enter to win here.

A lot of submissions are coming in, under the "Frugality" category mostly, that don't relate to eco topics. This topic is for frugality articles that can somehow relate to being green - for example, saving money on your energy bill. If you send in a submission, under any category, and don't see it posted, please don't be insulted. A lot of the articles that don't get posted are wonderful, but they just don't quite fit into the carnival.

I received a submission from a regular contributor to this carnival that I don't think quite fits into any of the categories, but the story is so amazing that I felt the need to share it up here at the top of this edition rather than let fall under the "Other" category (it was submitted under "Frugality," but I don't think it quite fits there, either). Silicon Valley Blogger at The Digerati Life's submission Sell Your House, Downsize and Give The Proceeds To Charity? is about a family that is selling their home, moving into a more reasonably sized home for their family, and giving half of the profit "assist 30 villages and impact the lives of approximately 20,000 people in Ghana." Inspiring!

DWSUWF presents Common Sense and the Sharp Park Golf Course posted at MW Mobile Blog. DWSUWF says, "There is a common sense answer to the conundrum of Sharp Park Golf Course. - Implement procedures at the course to further protect the endangered snake and frog where they have co-existed with golfers for 70+ years. If necessary, the plan could include closing the course for a month or two during flood season when the frogs are laying eggs. Other municipal courses around the country close for months at a time due to a weather condition called "winter". It is not a problem for a properly managed course. It is a reasonable compromise."

Katie presents How Much Energy do we use in the Kitchen? posted at Kitchen Stewardship. Katie says, "Do you know how much energy it takes to cook from scratch (not yours, but the fossil fuel kind)? Learn about the home cook's impact on the environment and what you can do about it."

Free organic news presents Ecology and the health of our world posted at Free organic news. Free organic news says, "A move towards responsible consumerism can help support ecology and the healthiness of our world. By making changes that increase the requirement for natural produce, we will be able to help to guarantee a sustainable future for our kids and our kids?s youngsters. These are some of the ways that organic living can make a difference."
