First, congrats to Valerie, who is the winner of the HAPPYFAMILY Giveaway! She would have had 48 hours to respond, but she wrote back before I even finished putting together the carnival. Thanks for the quick response, Valerie, and congrats again!
I also want to say that I am very impressed with this week's carnival. I'm happy with the number of submissions, but really happy about their quality! All very informative, interesting, and helpful! Thank you to all who submitted!
Barry Wright III presents Microdesign posted at 3stylelife. When I first saw the title of this post, I thought it would have something to do with computers. Way wrong! It is about modifying clothing. How is this eco? From the article:
Central to the idea of microdesign is the ability to reuse clothing. By modifying our current garments, we create new garments while minimizing our burden on needing to create new garments.
Kattia Gordon presents Inspired!! Wedding tips and ideas: green wedding dress posted at Inspired!! Wedding tips and ideas. If I had seen a dress like the second one in this article before I got married, I may have worn white (I wore red)! By the way, my dress was purchased secondhand, but "New With Tags."
SJ presents Effective Gas Consumption - Can It Be Done? posted at Save Money On Gas. SJ says, "If you own a vehicle, chances are that you are worrying about gas consumption. The gas prices in recent times have become so high that many people have made drastic changes to the way they drive."
Tiffany Washko presents Save Money on Healthy Organic Foods posted at Natural Family Living Blog. I don't even need to read Tiffany's submissions to know they will be informative, but I do anyway because... well... they're always informative!
Eve presents Breastfeeding is good for the environment too! posted at Eve's Ecopinions: Eco-tips, product reviews and more.. Eve says, "This article presents a look at the environmental health benefits of choosing breastfeeding over conventional bottle and formula feeding for infants."
SimplyForties presents Commercial Beekeeping vs. Commercial Agriculture posted at SimplyForties. I agree with SimplyForties' opinion in the article - if our bees all disappear, we are going to have bigger problems than seeds in our fruit.
Karen presents Make Love Sustainable posted at Small Planet Trading. So the party Karen was throwing that she talks of in this article was a few days ago, but the information in her article is still useful. Not much is normally said about keeping your *winkwink* adult life eco.
GP presents Look for Your Landing « Manely Montana posted at Manely Montana. GP says, "Landing in the last best place, got us doing lean and green."
Jaynie Van Roe presents Don't Eschew The Vintage Shoe: What To Look For When Buying Vintage Shoes posted at Here's Looking Like You, Kid. Jaynie says, "Don't think 'used shoes' -- think recycling! Tips for buying vintage and other shoes at thrift shoppes."
Woman Tribune presents Get Your Kids Interested in the Environment posted at Woman Tribune. This article gives a short but great list of books to help teach your children about the environment.
00FF00 presents How to make compost posted at oofoo. 00FF00 says, "Find out what kind of bin you need, what to put in it once you’ve got it, and what to do with all those leaves!"
Janel W presents What cookware is safe? posted at organic mommy's Weblog. Janel has done some research for you!
Ted presents Green Colleges posted at CampusGrotto College Advice. The top 11 green colleges in the U.S.
Heather Levin presents Want A FREE Eco-Friendly Dry Cleaning Bag? posted at The Greenest Dollar. Heather says, "Here's my product review of the Green Garmento, an eco-friendly dry cleaning bag. And, I'll tell you how to get one of your very own, for free."
Vera Lang presents Craft a Simple, Marvellous Desk Calendar posted at Fine Craft Guild .com. Vera says, "Made with 100% recyclables. Fun, crafty and useful."
Kevin presents 10 Best Recycling Websites for Kids posted at Parenting at More4kids. With this great list, your kids may never need to visit a website that's not on it again!
Silicon Valley Blogger presents This Unusual Investment Property Is Now A Green Home posted at The Digerati Life. An interesting renovation.
The Smarter Wallet presents Organic Food: Healthy Food Ideas For The Ordinary Shopper posted at The Smarter Wallet. Reading this submission has me craving some organic fruit!
Missy Diaz presents 8 Fun Facts About Squash posted at Groovy Vegetarian. I learned about the deliciousness of squash at my wedding in 2006
Meg presents There's only 7% of the Atlantic Forest left. Help Preserve It! posted at How to Make a Difference. Donate $2 to help save the Atlantic Forest in Brazil. If you donate by the 31st of this month, you will be entered to win a "We Add Up Organic Cotton 'Plant Trees' Tee." Donations are sent securely through Paypal (I sent mine a minute ago!)
Bobbie Whitehead presents Big Mama Tree posted at The Backyard Grower. "An ancient bald cypress called Big Mama, discovered in 2005 died last year, but the tree most likely will remain standing for years amid other old bald cypress and tupelo trees in a 40-acre virgin forest in Southampton County, Va., that will become a Virginia nature preserve."
Kate presents Down with EPF Cups!!! posted at Green Thinking Blog. Kate says, "Expanded Polystyrene Foam (EPF) is commonly referred to as styrofoam. This material is derived from a petroleum base; it is harmful to produce and it is difficult to recycle. EPF is a #6 recyclable product, but there are only 200 facilities in the nation! It is our responsibility to make the choice of what we consume and how we dispose of it."
I debated over whether or not to include this next submission. To say I try to remain unbiased when it comes to submissions would be a lie. I do not agree with the content of this submission in the least, but I am including it because there are people who believe global warming isn't real, and I think our great readers here at Focus Organic might have a comment or two about what this particular author is saying. Obadiah Shoher presents Hot, global fraud posted at Samson Blinded. I would love for everyone to post their thoughts in the comments of the article so I can see what you have to say!
That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of All Things Eco using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.
