The best solution would be to have pure clean water out of the tap. In our home we also use the GE smart water system that is in our refrigerator, the water pitcher filter systems are good for use in your kitchen, not so much the home office or the play room let alone the office at work.

Could you not consider another solution such as a simple Water Pitcher Filter? The other thing that I do not really agree with is leaving this filtered/purified water in a plastic container. I would like to see use of a glass reservoir.

Ian, I'm sorry you had a negative experience with the product. Definitely do return it! We have been using it for about 2 months now and haven't had this problem (I just dispensed a nice, cold glass of water from it this morning), so I think your purchase was on of those where you happened into a malfunctioning unit.

I bought this at Bed, Bath & Beyond. I thought it was a nice looking counter top appliance and I drink a lot of water. I also liked the feature of having hot water readily available for tea or hot chocolate. It does dispense slowly but it is just for me so that isn't that big a deal. What is a problem is that after a few days of running the product the water in the top resevoir was heating up. The appliance is supposed to have a hot and cold water tank to heat or chill the tap water, but all the water in the top resevoir was heating up to sauna level temperatures. Now when I push the tap water button I don't get room temperature water -- I get very very warm water. I don't feel it can be very healthy to have warm (but not hot) water sitting around on a counter top. Seems like the perfect place for bacteria and things to grow. I'm extremely disappointed, because up until today i was very happy with this product. Now I'm going to need to take it apart, dry it off and return it to the store. Cuisinart should be ashamed for putting such a crappy product on the market.

Yes, clean and clear water is very-very important for our health, because some dangerous diseases are caused by dirty water of low quality. So, thank you for worrying about people's health!

I can't believe that we are filtrating water. 10 years ago I was drinking tap water and it was fine. Maybe a solution would be not to buy filtration systems, but reduce water pollution, wouldn't be that nice?

Anything to have people stop using bottled water. This seems like a really great filter that eliminates some harmful chemicals I don't want to be drinking.

I'm glad that companies are getting serious about providing alternatives to bottled water. Yay!

like everyone else I use a filter, and use a tap filter. I use the pur filter triple stage. it' a great help. I wonder if I'd like this since I drink spring water but use the filtered water to cook with and to make ice cubes ? I probably would like the heated side for tea.

Didn't realize they had a model that allowed you to filter and have hot water. Now that is different. I use a model that has a solid carbon filter and find it effective.

I think everyone should use some sort of water filtration system. Given how much our water systems are polluted, I would never go without drinking filtered water nowadays.

Will do some more research on this new model.

Thank you for the information

Cheers
