eBay World of Good

News of Amazon going green isn't exactly, well, new, but I haven't posted about it before, and looking at Amazon's main page, they don't exactly have it listed for everyone to find (why not? It should have a category!). I am only briefly mentioning Amazon Green for the sake of letting others know, yes, it is there.

eBay GoodprinteBay launched a new marketplace, World of Good, on Wednesday. Customers can shop by category, or shop by "Goodprint." What the heck is that? Says eBay:

Every choice we make leaves an imprint. Goodprint – WorldofGood.com’s revolutionary product guide – is how sellers display the positive imprint you leave when you purchase a product on WorldofGood.com. It’s the tool you can use to shop for products that match your interests and values.

There is, of course, overlap between the Goodprint categories, and each item on WorldofGood lists it's Goodprint in it's description.

I randomly chose a product that I thought looked nice (Tree of Life Quilted Cotton Tote Bag), and saw that it is made in an all women cooperative in western Rajasthan (includes a picture of the women) and profits help in the development of the region. Pretty cool.

Remember, the Act2 GreenSmart Bottles 2 Bags contest ends tonight, so get your entries in!

  1. Thanks for the heads up about World of Good. I had joined their social community a few months ago, but I'm glad to see it has evolved into a marketplace for responsibly manufactured products.

  2. I always hesitated to purchase a product online and especially on eBay. I don't know from where this fear came and resided in my head but I am always afraid. I shall try to give "worldofgoosd" a try.

  3. Jennae, I remembered visiting the community a few months ago, so I was also excited about the marketplace opening.

Mark, I understand being hesitant to purchase online. A lot of people have bad experiences with online shopping, but I've always been pretty lucky. No bad experiences here! As far as eBay, it's a matter of doing your research to make sure you aren't getting ripped off, and always checking the seller's feedback.
