I've never really thought about what happens to the scrap metal from the world's most coveted designers: CHANEL, PRADA, LV, DOLCE GABBANA etc. It would be a shame for those to go to waste as I would love to get my hands on them, and now I have!
I was recently introduced to these gorgeous handmade recycled jewelry pieces. Michelle Croft, owner of RMichelle managed to snag some of CHANEL's unused scrap metal. These earrings here are my favorite and they are only $36.00.
The entire piece is made from CHANEL scraps. It has that vintage hammered gold style that is all over the red carpet, you can see it in the hoops in the photo. The gold is paired with vintage lucite beads and crystals which are from CHANEL. How can you not love it!
Michelle has been making jewelry as a hobby for years and happens to be really good at it. I asked her about her eco-friendly pieces and she said "In the interest of keeping the environment looking beautiful and being healthy, I've turned over all my jewelry creations to come from recycled, reclaimed and natural materials, such as white polymer clay w/dye, recycled metal, vintage jewelry."
She sends every piece in a small recycled plastic baggy. Checkout her line at http://rmichelle.etsy.com

Some pieces aren't only beautiful, but cheap too. Michelle does really good work.

To my mind the most eco-friendly material is gold - it's hypoalrgenic and really chic!

Not only that, it does not have to be polished, because unlike silver it does not oxidize.
And guess what most people use to polish silver.. harsh, toxic chemicals.

As I mentioned earlier, my daughter is very green and she would like these two. Like many typical teenagers, she has more earings than she will ever use.

Recycling stuff into earrings is a great idea; however I don't think many girls would love to wear it if they knew it has been recycled from something.
