March 5th's Tip

Poison Prevention: March is National Poison Prevention Month! Every 13 seconds, U.S. Poison Control Centers receive a call about someone being exposed to a poison. Forty percent of those cases involve a child under three years of age. According to the American Association of Poison Centers, more than 50 percent of over two million exposure incidents each year involve children under six years of age. What’s more, poison center data reported over 70,000 calls made to poison centers with concerns about exposure to common household pesticides.

Take some small steps around your household to reduce the poison risk. Switch to natural and homemade cleaners and insect repellents. Take the outside of your home into consideration to - switch to natural and organic lawn care methods, especially if you have children or pets running around on your lawn. We don't want those tiny barefoot steps absorbing all those chemicals!

Great article. I really enjoyed reading it. It was both entertaining and helpful. Poison prevention is very important - especially for people who have pets and young children. Thanks!!

I think that everytime we develope a new medicine we also produce few new poisons. The world is more and more poisenous and we will have really serious problems soon if we don't do anything to keep world healthy and organic.

Wow all those calls from common household products. We are poisoning ourselves, forget about threats from outside the home. I always like encouraging people to swap out dangerous products for clean ones. I got the idea from a school drive where you brought in unhealthy foods, and traded them for healthy alternative meals. It was a great hit because people got to exchange on a 1 for 1 basis, and see the immediate benefit without out of pocket expenses.

great post, i think there are too many toxic things that we live with everyday and it is hard to keep everything from our children who don't fully know the consequences.

Children are so innocent to be poisonned just rootly because of those people who want to earn money. Parents should think triples before feeding their child. Anyway, it's a great link up there.
