May 15th's Tip
Fruits & Veggies: So it's obvious that fruits and veggies are good for you, and you should probably eat more of them than you do, but did you know that eating them may help your body make its own aspirin?
A study done by the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry have found that people who receive benzoic acid, a natural ingredient in fruits and vegetables, can make their own salicylic acid, which is the ingredient in aspirin that gives it its pain relieving and anti-inflammatory properties. This also means that a diet rich in fruits and veggies may help protect against cancer and heart disease.
The study also found that the salicylic acid levels found in vegetarians were very high, almost the same as in patients taking low doses of aspirin.
Need more reasons to eat your fruits and veggies? How about trying these 6 - watermelon, olives, strawberries, cherries, artichokes, and pomegranates are all aphrodisiacs.

That would be good to know that eating more fruits and veggies could prevent you from having to take aspirin since it is so bad for your body. Do you think this means that headaches will be prevented this way or not as bad?

I have been taking Aspirin(Ascard) since an year. I am diabetic and I wish to have some natural ways to get rid of all those medicines. After reading your blog, I am glad know some natural way but I am afraid to have my Sugar levels increased. Right after posting this comment, I am going to search some fruits and veggies with benzoic acid but I'll have to see that what would be level of sugars after eating them.

This is fascinating and so helpful! I have my family on a heart-healthy, as-organic-as-is-possible-on-our-budget diet, which of course amps up the fruits and veggies. My husband is a Marine, and he has noticed a dramatic decrease in his use of ibuprofin over the last 2 years of our marriage--we're talking a decrease from using it several times a day to only using it when he has a training injury. This totally backs up my theory of total-body wellness. Thanks for posting this!

Interesting. This is just another reason to make sure we eat plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.

That is definitely a good enough reason to eat more fruit and veg, I think everyone (deep down) knows that they are good for you anyway but for some reason no one eats enough!!!

We can deny the benefits of nature and pure food. This is our sense of taste which is needed to be developed. I always eat plenty of fruit including strawberries and pomegranates.
