Eco-Friendly Friday

April 10th's Tip

Paper Towel Tubes Follow Up: Following up on an Eco-Friendly Friday tip from a few weeks ago, Chef Knives would like to add another very creative use for spent paper towel tubes.

Many chef knives go to waste before their time from not being stored properly in a sheath of some sort. One of the cheapest, best sheaths of all is paper towel tubes! Simply cut the tube once lengthwise and gently fold the cardboard around the edge of the knife.

For more paper towel (and toilet paper) tube reuses, visit volume 39.

  1. What a great idea, that's one that I never thought off. I cut them up in 3rds and use them as seed starter, but now I have another use for them, thanks again!

  3. Your tips are good and environment friendly. I too have a tip to share but don't know if it is caring for the environment or not. It refers to waste papers, old newspapers and the like.

  4. I have never thought of using paper towel tubes as knife sheaths before. Although I have used them to make different arts and craft projects. With all of the different uses that paper towel tubes have, there is really never any reason to throw them out.

  5. Wow, that was great. I've never imagine that we can use paper towel for that kind of thing. Great post.

  6. We can be helpful to our environment by means of recycling. If there are things that can be very useful don't just throw it away. Instead of polluting the land let's be creative to keep it clean and beautiful. This article is very nice, hope it can share more of good ideas.

  7. I usually don't feel the need to do anything with paper towels, i just put them into paper recycling bin. But if I ever have a knife that will actually need some care, I'll remember this.

Thats a great idea for paper towel tubes.

  9. I currently have a knife block for my knives. I wonder if taking the chef knife out and wrapping it in something like a paper towel roll would make a difference.
