Eco-Friendly Friday

July 4th's Tip

Recycle: Put out recycling bins at your 4th of July party for your guests to throw their bottles/cans into. Make sure the bins are easy to spot and everyone knows they are there.

I'd also like to repeat last week's tip, since it is for the 4th, also.

Don't use disposable dishes, utensils, cups and napkins. These contribute to environmental "trash" and are not biodegradable.

If you already have fun "picnic ware," use that. If you don't, don't go out and spend $$... have each guest bring their favorite dish. It can be china or something hand painted. Stack them all on the buffet table and have guests pick their favorite one.

What a fun way to enjoy your meal and the environment! - contributed by Green Girl

Making sure people know that they are there is huge because at work I guess we've had recycling bins fora while I just never knew.

  5. I usually went for the paper plates due to their low cost, but over time I suppose non-disposable items would be cheaper in the long run.
