Washing Machine: Front loading washers use 50% less water than top loaders. The clothes actually get cleaner with significantly less detergent as well! - Contributed by Dave

Jordans, actually, we still have a top loading machine here. When we bought it a few years ago we couldn't afford to front loading ones, and didn't know about the water savings at the time.

Front loading washing machines are not a new concept; they have long been used in commercial laundries. They have only been practical for home use, though, for a few years. Most department and home improvement stores now carry at least one, and usually several, models.
