Eco-Friendly Friday

January 30th's Tip

DVDs, CDs, Video Games: If you're anything like my husband and me, you have a big box full of old CDs sitting in a closet wasting space. We occasionally dig through the box and pop a few CDs in for nostalgic purposes, but overall, we don't like most of the music anymore.

Do you have old CDs you never listen to anymore, old DVDs you'll never watch again, or video games your kids (or you) outgrew years ago? Don't throw them away! There are a lot of options for these items that don't require increasing the content in our landfills. One of these options is SecondSpin.

SecondSpin is a site that buys and sells used CDs, DVDs, and video games. There are a few restrictions (for example, CDs need to come with the front booklet and back insert), and some items may not make you much money, but it is still a better option than just throwing the items away!

If SecondSpin isn't of interest to you, other options for selling or giving away your used media include craigslist (sell or give away), eBay (sell), and Freecycle (give away).

If you want to contribute a tip (and I know you do!), shoot us an email (don't post the tip in the comments!). Be sure to include your URL if you want a link to your site included with your tip!
