Eco-Friendly Swimwear

Summer is coming and it's time to start thinking swim suits. If you've been getting in shape over the winter (or even if you haven't!) a nice swimsuit can be a treat. Head to the beach this summer in eco-conscious swimwear and you'll not only look great, but feel great, too.

Aaron Chang, a famous photographer and surfer, is designing swimwear that can be found at Urban Outfitters (the line is not currently on the website). The suits are made from 100% recycled plastic bottles, and the patterns are nature prints from Aaron Chang's photography.

Faeries Dance, an online store for earth-friendly fashions, has a few cute swimsuits made of organic cotton or recycled plastic bottles. This one is my personal favorite.

This is my favorite of the eco-friendly suits I've seen so far. It's made from organic cotton and spandex, but it only comes in white, which is a big no-no for so pale it's translucent skin like mine. It's still super cute, though.

Rogan Gregory, the designer for Loomstate and Edun, is coming out with a line for Target on May 15th. It includes organic cotton swimsuits as well as other clothing. I'm not a big fan of the animal print thing, but I do love the designs he creates for Loomstate and Edun, so I am definitely going to check his Target line out.

I probably won't be buying myself a new swimsuit this year, I have a habit of buying them and never wearing them so I have a few from the last few years sitting around waiting to be used... But seeing some of these is really making me rethink that idea. I'm at least going to look into it :)

What a fab website -- it's a proper trove of wonderful ideas!

Like you, I probably won't be buying a new swimsuit this year, partly because I don't have a beach holiday lined up anytime soon. For the odd day at the beach, I'll use my swimsuit from last year. But these are really good ideas. I especially like the green swimsuit at the top of the page...

Thank you for the great comment! :)

My friend just sent me a link to this post (yes I know it's about 5 months too late) and I just thought it was amazing.

I love how fashion is suddenly starting to take the lead on environmental issues. I think by them doing this it will leak out into the rest of pop culture and should start making a huge difference to this world.

Elle, I agree. I've been seeing a lot more eco fashion lately, particularly since the beginning of summer, and a lot of it is becoming more affordable.

Rogan Gregory is great swim suit designer. Great organic cotton swim suit designs. I like it.

I like Rogan Gregory line. He is the best designer ever. he designs swimsuits for Loomstate and Edun.

Recycling is a great idea indeed, but I would personaly feel weird in a swimsuit made of recycled plastic bottles. But I agree that organic beachwear will be a step forward to protect the environment.

You might be surprised at how soft clothing made of recycle plastic bottles is!

Good day!

These days swimwear industry has a wide choise of swim wear for women. And it is growing from day to day as new designers appear all other the world and hit the market with greatest collections!

thanks!

To look at them, you'd never know that these styles were made out of recycled soda bottles -- and of course that's good. Earth Day is smack in the middle of swimsuit buying season, so why not use it as an excuse to buy a new swimsuit.

I never knew how beautiful swimsuits could be after being made out of recycled material. That is amazing and wish the entire industry would start making swimsuit lines with using only recycled material.

I never would have thought about an eco friendly swim wear line of products, this is great! I am glad that such a big name like Target is getting behind this, it is one step closer towards the worldwide progression of saving our planet. I must say that I am very pleased to have read this post, and I will be passing it along to my girl friends! Hehe
