Summer is coming and it's time to start thinking swim suits. If you've been getting in shape over the winter (or even if you haven't!) a nice swimsuit can be a treat. Head to the beach this summer in eco-conscious swimwear and you'll not only look great, but feel great, too.

Aaron Chang, a famous photographer and surfer, is designing swimwear that can be found at Urban Outfitters (the line is not currently on the website). The suits are made from 100% recycled plastic bottles, and the patterns are nature prints from Aaron Chang's photography.

Faeries Dance, an online store for earth-friendly fashions, has a few cute swimsuits made of organic cotton or recycled plastic bottles. This one is my personal favorite.

This is my favorite of the eco-friendly suits I've seen so far. It's made from organic cotton and spandex, but it only comes in white, which is a big no-no for so pale it's translucent skin like mine. It's still super cute, though.

Rogan Gregory, the designer for Loomstate and Edun, is coming out with a line for Target on May 15th. It includes organic cotton swimsuits as well as other clothing. I'm not a big fan of the animal print thing, but I do love the designs he creates for Loomstate and Edun, so I am definitely going to check his Target line out.
I probably won't be buying myself a new swimsuit this year, I have a habit of buying them and never wearing them so I have a few from the last few years sitting around waiting to be used... But seeing some of these is really making me rethink that idea. I'm at least going to look into it

What a fab website -- it's a proper trove of wonderful ideas!
Like you, I probably won't be buying a new swimsuit this year, partly because I don't have a beach holiday lined up anytime soon. For the odd day at the beach, I'll use my swimsuit from last year. But these are really good ideas. I especially like the green swimsuit at the top of the page...

My friend just sent me a link to this post (yes I know it's about 5 months too late) and I just thought it was amazing.
I love how fashion is suddenly starting to take the lead on environmental issues. I think by them doing this it will leak out into the rest of pop culture and should start making a huge difference to this world.

Elle, I agree. I've been seeing a lot more eco fashion lately, particularly since the beginning of summer, and a lot of it is becoming more affordable.

Recycling is a great idea indeed, but I would personaly feel weird in a swimsuit made of recycled plastic bottles. But I agree that organic beachwear will be a step forward to protect the environment.
