This giveaway is now closed

As all of us here at Focus Organic know, eating organic and local is as good as it gets. Some of us have our own organic gardens, others shop at local farmer's markets. But what should we do in the winter, if we can't get local produce? Some of you know the answer... home canning.
Ball, maker of the mason jar, is celebrating its 125th anniversary (Happy Anniversary!), and the Ball Jar is older than the ballpoint pen, the zipper and the teddy bear (just an interesting tidbit!). Ball has come out with a fresh preserving kit to help get you started on home canning, and they were kind enough to donate one to our celebration, so we can celebrate together. ($59.99 value)
Features and Benefits of the Kit:
- 21-quart water canner includes essential tools for canning fruits, salsas, pickles, jams and jellies and more:
- Newly designed chrome plated rack resists corrosion and prevents small jars from falling through rungs for safe use year after year
- Four piece utensil set with jar lifter, lid lifter, funnel and bubble remover and headspace tool that help to fill jars quickly and safely
- New design features stylish blue porcelain color, vertical sidewall, and limited edition 125th Anniversary logo fired into the enamel
- Enamel coated steel base is non-porous for easy cleaning and will not react with foods

I have several jam, jelly, and preserves recipes I want to try. Wild blackberries grow all over our fences on our farm, and I am dying to try making something besides cobbler!

My husband has some dietary restrictions and I've been thinking more and more that we ought to start making some of our own canned goods instead of frantically reading labels in the supermarket and frequently not finding anything suitable. This would be a great start for us.
Making our own salsa would be awesome. I'm especially interested in the Mango Tango salsa.

My oldwater bath canner is worn out! I really need a new one with a better rack to hold the jars so they won't tilt over during processing. The recipe I'd like to try is Multigrain Pancakes with Blackberry Maple Syrup. the blackberries just have blossums now so I can get prepared for summer berry picking.

My Grandmother always canned her foods. I never really thought about doing it myself until I had children and started making my own baby food (food allergies in my oldest). This would be a great starter set to help me move onto the next step in the process - canned goods for the whole family. My daughter and I already agreed to try our own Mild Fiesta Salsa from the FreshPreserving site. Whether it lasts more than a day is yet to be seen. Thanks for the contest.
