One Village Gifts was born out of a desire to make a difference in the world. The belief that one small gesture can make a huge impact on another person's life. This simple act is never more true than in developing countries where women are given the opportunity to create beautiful crafts, make a living wage, and change their lives for the better.

Being socially and environmentally aware and responsible very often go hand in hand, and finding companies that take both of these lifestyles into account and care about their values can be difficult. Social responsibility involves choosing companies that help to provide a good quality of life for their workers - a living wage, healthy working conditions, and so on. Environmental responsibility involves choosing to do business with companies that are environmentally responsible themselves.

One Village Gifts is a company that prides itself on being both socially and environmentally responsible, and sells its products to make a difference in the lives of the women who create them. They give an opportunity to small artisans that may have not otherwise been available to them - a means to support their family and share their love of crafting.

One Village Gifts and Focus Organic are giving you the chance to become a part of something beautiful in hopes that you will continue to be socially and environmentally responsible, as well as teach others to do the same. One lucky winner is going to receive a beautiful double strand acai bracelet with coconut in your choice of teal, green, or orange.

Giveaway Details

Entrants must live in the U.S. or Canada.
Contest will run from today, June 7th, until 11 PM Central time (Midnight EST) on, Sunday June 14th
Winner will be chosen randomly, announced, and contacted on Monday, June 15th

Bashanti's story is amazing. I can't imagine being forced to marry at 7 or 8 or giving birth at 15 - I was still playing with Barbies! I'm proud of her for taking the risk to refuse a 3rd marriage even though it meant she'd lose her job. Incredible courage.

Bashanti's story was so touching and heartbreaking. It's hard to imagine that while I'm sitting here in the luxury of my sofa that people on the other side of the world are suffering so much and having to sell their bodies to make a living. I'm so glad to hear that One Village is supporting so many impoverished people.

I picked Bashanti. In a way, it brings her back full circle: She came to Calcutta with the promise of a sewing job. Many years later, she’s doing just that – and not just sewing. Freeset is about freedom. Bashanti sews bags for freedom.

All of the stories at One Village Artisan Stories are so amazing, inspirational and heart warming. I really like the Amazon ~ Our Partner Rainforest Native story. The fact that "through each creation, indigenous people are given the opportunity for prosperity and able to be stewarts of the land through sustainable resources" pretty much says it all simply, effectively and proudly. Thank you for directing us over there so we can learn about all of these fantastic initiatives.
