Not a day goes by without some sort of interesting news on something organic or green. I have Google Alerts set up to send me news using the keywords "organic" and "eco-friendly." I wanted to try "green," but I figured I would get far too many unrelated articles. Anyway, I learn about lots of interesting new products and news stories this way, and decided to share some today that I found particularly interesting.

» Lotus eco-friendly concept does 135kmph on snow - Not made for your every day traveler, "The CIV will be used for an expedition to the South Pole to raise awareness of climate change and to demonstrate the efficiency of biofuel."
» Google pulls the plug on eco-friendly search engine Forestle - Forestle is (was?) a search engine that donated all of its profits from Google ads to help save the Rainforest.
» Navy reserve sailors lend skill to Habitat Home - "Sailors from the Naval Operational Support Center (NOSC) in Des Moines joined forces with Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity and Leadership Iowa on Aug. 23 to help build the state's first ever Habitat for Humanity eco-friendly home."
» Crete: An organic feast fit for the gods - "Agreco operates on strictly organic principles. Pests are controlled naturally, dung from the livestock is recycled as manure. Ducks and hens move about under the olive trees – they eat the weeds, and their droppings are excellent fertiliser. When it’s time for them to move on, they are led to the next grove by a trail of corn kernels." Puts a pretty cute picture in your head, huh?

» HP ‘Sustainable Packaging’ DV6929WM-B laptop & bag bundle - While the bags the laptops ship in look nice, Walmart being on the eco side still confuses me... And I can't help but wonder why the laptops themselves aren't made more eco-friendly, as well...
» The Truth About "Organic" Dry Cleaners - And to think, I was going to research the organic dry cleaning idea for a post in the future...
» Functional & Healthy Organic Candy to Drive Growth in the World Candy Market, According to a New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc. - "Product innovation holds the key to continued success in the marketplace. New products, exotic flavors, novel ingredients, organic/herbal fillings, are expected to boost candy sales across all consumer segments."
» PETA Names Top Five Vegetarian-Friendly Rehab Centers - Not that we need rehab or have the money to go to these places if we did, but let's say we become famous, have a mental break down and shave our heads, it's nice to know these places exist!

I'm an acupuncturist in austin, tx and have been using organic needles (wood instead of steel) for the past six months. My clients are already the eco-friendly type, so this extra touch really keeps them interested in how the acupuncture process actually works, aside from the natural healing aspect.
This is a great post, I usually frequent Ecostreet but will be stopping by here more often!

I found a company that makes eco friendly organic candy that my kids love.
The brand is called Pure Fun and they have lollipops, hard candies, cotton candy. I hear they'll be having a Halloween pack this year that I'm going to hand out to my neighbors. And at Christmas this year my kids can eat the candy canes!

Five Elements, that is really neat! I've never heard of acupuncture with wood needles, is there some kind of special process that goes into creating them?
Jeff, I was wishing that article included more information about organic candy, such as a brand name, so thank you for posting that! I will definitely look into Pure Fun.
