J.Lynne is a line of mineral makeup that is cruelty free and 100% natural. I have been exploring the world of cosmetics lately, and was pleased to be contacted by Jessica Lynne Miller, owner and creator of J.Lynne Cosmetics. With the desire to try new products, you would be surprised how hard it is to find natural products that are cruelty free.
Jess told me about their new collection, Latin Rhythms.

J.Lynne Cosmetics gives their all-natural, eco-friendly mineral makeup a unique, spicy twist with the introduction of their Latin Rhythms Mineral Blush collection. Inspired by the growing popularity of Latin ballroom dancing, these pure mineral blushes range from sheer to sultry, and have been created with J.Lynne’s trademark all-natural ingredients and skin-complimenting colors.
"There’s nothing sexier than the natural flush that comes into a woman’s cheeks when she’s dancing or exercising," says Jessica Lynne Miller, owner and creator of J.Lynne Cosmetics. "I wanted to capture the essence of a pure, natural cheek color, but with a sassy twist. I’m a big fan of ballroom dancing, so it was only natural that colors and names inspired by Latin dances were the perfect fit for this collection!" (via 1888PressRelease)
Those of you who have tried mineral blushes before know that less is definitely more. You only need a very little bit to make a statement, and this is also true of J.Lynne's Latin Rhythms line. My skin is very (VERY!) pale, and my favorite color in the collection is Samba, a soft rose pink, because it gave me that just out in the cold look. All the colors are very natural, and I was surprised to find that every one of them looked good on me.
J.Lynne also carries a line of Gloss FX® Natural Lip Glaze, which are all made with natural ingredients such as sweet almond, avocado, and orange peel oils paired with beeswax and Vitamin E to moisturize your lips. As for my lips, the glazes add a hint of natural color - my lips, but better. My lips are very pigmented on their own, so others may have a different experience with these glazes.
Gloss FX® Natural Lip Glazes come in a variety of 14 different colors, while the Latin Rhythms mineral blush comes in 6 colors. Full size lip glazes are $12, samples are $2. Full size blushes are $9, samples are $1.50.

Since I'm a guy I don't use makeup
but I still find it to be great that there are companies that are actually trying to make such things. Once thing is not to test on animals but another thing is to have them be free of all the waste chemicals that are normally used in makeup (even the expensive ones). Do you know whether they are also chemical free?

Mikael, yes J.Lynne products are chemical free.

J.Lynne is great work for chemical free cosmetic products. Skin is very sensitive so, some times chemical cosmetic product is harmful for our skin. Thanks for information.

Are the products that use beeswax, lanolin and animal hair really considered cruelty free? Is there a place on the website that promises that bees and/or animals were not harmed in the harvesting of the ingredients? And can parabens and petrolatum really be considered "natural" in this context? I'm not trying to be a jerk; I commend J. Lynne for listing all of the products' ingredients as many producers tend to hide them from consumers. I also commend her for creating many natural products as I'm sure it's not easy to do successfully. But cruelty free and natural means different things to different people.

V. Smith, as for beeswax, etc., I'm not sure. It can be cruelty free, depending on the practices used.
As for parabens and petrolatum, the products I reviewed did not include these ingredients. I agree with you - I would not consider these "natural."

J.Lynne is great make-up. i also wanted to suggest another mineral makeup that is natural and also does not test on animals. Let me know if you try this and how you feel it compares to J.Lynne! Thanks!

Michelle, I've heard of E.L.F., and checked out the website, but haven't tried them. I don't think they are all natural, though. I just opened up a random product (waterproof eyeliner pen) and these are the ingredients:
Get no smudge, no budge eyeliner that lasts for hours for a fabulous and fresh look of precision. The smooth pen applicator easily glides on color for very fine to bold lines for effortless beauty.
Hold applicator at a slight angle and apply color to the base of the lashes. Use a light touch for thin lines or a firmer touch for thicker lines. To remove easily use a water based makeup remover. Best stored tip down for ultimate color saturation.
Aqua(water), Styrene/Acrylates/Ammonium Methacrylate Copolymer, SD Alcohol 40 (Alcohol Denat), Butylene Glycol, Sodium Laureth-12 Sulfate, Benzyl Alcohol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone.
May Contain: Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Maganese Violet (CI 77742), Ultramarines (CI 77007), Chromium Hydroxide Green (CI 77289), Yellow No. 5 Lake (CI 19140), Ferric Ferrocyanide (CI 77510), Blue No.1 Lake (CI 42090)
Are you talking about their mineral makeup, though?

In February 2003, the EU agreed a Europe-wide ban on cosmetics animal testing but it won't come into effect in stages until 2009/2013. An EU ban on the sale of new animal tested cosmetics has also been agreed but a complete sales ban won't come into effect until 2013 at the earliest.

Those colors look very good indeed. There is no denying that cruelty free cosmetics are the way of the future for the industry, good to see more and more brands coming up with their own cruelty free products.
