Miley Cyrus

Not a song that I personally enjoy, but it's refreshing to hear a young pop star with such a following trying to put an eco message into her music. I'm sure most of her fans won't pay much attention to the message and only bounce up and down like caffeine addicted Mexican jumping beans, but at least she's trying!

Lyrics

Oh oh can you take care of her
Oh oh maybe you can spare her
Several moments of your consideration
Leading up to the final destination

Oh oh the earth is calling out
I wanna learn what it’s all about
But everything I read's global warming, going green
I don’t know what all this means
But it seems to be saying

Wake up America
Ee’re all in this together
It’s our home so let’s take care of it
You know that you want to
You know that you got to
Wake up America
Tomorrow becomes a new day
And everything you do matters
Yeah everything you do matters in some way

Stand Up
I’ll try if you will
Wake Up
It’s not a fire drill
All she needs is a little attention
Can you give her just a little attention?

Uh oh it’s easy to look away
But it’s getting harder day by day
Everything I read's global warming, going green
I don’t know what all this means
but it seems to be saying

(Come on!) Wake up America
We’re all in this together
It’s our home so let’s take care of it
You know that you want to
You know that you got to
Wake up America
Tomorrow becomes a new day
And everything you do matters
Yeah everything you do matters in some way

I know that you don’t want to hear it
Especially coming from someone so young
But in the back seat yeah they want to hear it (they want to hear it)

So come on (turn in up)
Come on (turn it up)
So come oooooooon (turn it up)

Wake up America
We’re all in this together
It’s our home so let’s take care of it
You know that you want to
You know that you got to
Wake up America
Tomorrow becomes a new day
And everything you do matters
Yeah everything you do matters in some way

  1. Hi Stefanie!
Thanks for stopping by my blog! Of course, I'd love to exchange links with you, I've already added you to my blogroll!
    Namaste

  2. Since my daughter is such a huge fan of Hannah/Miley, it's good to hear her promoting some of my own ideals. Thanks for pointing that out :)

I agree its nice to see celebs doing something right for a change.

  4. Kim, awesome! I added you to mine, as well.

Jennae and Curtis, I agree. She is a very popular girl, so hopefully that will help get this song's message out to more kids (and their parents!).

  5. I must admit, i quite liked the song. I much preferred her latest song, "7 Things" - you can already see how she is starting the transformation from being hannah montana into being soley "Miley Cyrus"

Lets hope she doesnt turn out to be another Britney, Lyndsay or Paris.

  6. I think it’s really important for celebrities to use their position for good. Unlike another hot celebrity currently rocking out the charts with very sexual lyrics, Miley is trying to use her pop star status for good instead of evil. Rock on.
