August 22nd's Tip
Personal Lubricants: Let's take a look at some of the ingredients of your standard lubricant:» Glycerine: Has been shown to be toxic to sperm. Is a sugar, so it can feed Candida albicans (that nasty little fungus that can cause yeast infections).
» Chlorhexidine digluconate: A human skin toxicant and skin irritant, possible carcinogen.
» Sodium hydroxide: Possible carcinogen, skin irritation at very low doses.
» Methylparaben: If you've been here before, you know to avoid parabens. They are skin toxicants and carcinogens, and have been found in the tissue of breast cancer tumors.
If you are trying to get pregnant, lubricants can make it harder, killing sperm or making movement for sperm very difficult. If you are pregnant, a study in 2003 showed that exposure to K-Y Jelly after fertilization caused a sever decline in the ability of embryos to form in vitro.
Thanks to Sarah from Yes Pure Intimacy for the info included with this tip. If using a lubricant, check out Yes, it doesn't contain any of the ingredients listed above, and they have a water-based as well as an oil-based version (and it comes in a neat looking bottle... I'm a sucker for cool packaging
