Eco-Friendly Friday

November 7th's Tip

Leaves: With the leaves falling all around us, it's probably time you're thinking about what to do with them all. As a kid, I LOVED jumping in the big piles of leaves (still have doubt that Autumn is my favorite season :D ), but eventually it's time to do something about them before winter settles in.

Bagging the leaves up for the dump seems the simplest solution, but why? Leaves aren't garbage, they're nature, and bagging and dumping them seems silly, to me! How about using that as mulch or compost for your garden?

Using the leaves as mulch is as easy as shredding them up, which you can do with your lawn mower if necessary. Composting is more tedious work and involves much more time, but your garden can definitely benefit from it. You can read more about both options and their differing benefits here.

Election Day

I'm so glad the day is finally here... I'm unbelievably tired of phone calls, television ads, and volunteers showing up at my door...
It would be a lie to say I don't care who you vote for today, but the important thing is that you do vote. Still undecided? Here are a few…
