Founded in 1970 by Paola Cherubini, Picci is a baby bedding company renowned for the quality of its handcrafted bedding sets. New for 2009, Picci is now selling an all organic bedding set, Picci Natura.
Picci Natura is a gorgeous collection made from 100% certified organic materials with a color scheme of ivory and sage green - perfect for both boys and girls. The dye used for the collection is free of heavy metals, and the stuffing is derived entirely of maize, so it is hypoallergenic. Even the threading used to embroider the pieces in the set is organic.
The Natura collection makes me wish I had a baby to purchase it for! Organic and beautiful, the collection offers everything from sheets and blankets to a bassinet, carry basket, and more. The 3-piece crib set includes a matching bumper, sheet, and a dust ruffle.

What are the advantages of organic bedding? Are there health benefits or it is mainly just to help protect the environment?

... The Benefits are empty Pockets. I'm all for the Organic Movement but some companies are cashing in on things that have no relevant contribution to the movement.

That is not true, TechJunkies. We spend a lot of time in our beds, and babies send even more time in theirs, so having your skin rubbing up against organic bedding is much safer than non-organic. It's the same as with clothing, your skin absorbs chemicals that are on your clothing and your bedding, and for babies, who spend up to 20 hours sleeping, that would result in a lot of chemical absorption.

Interested in more about organic bedding here, too, please. As I understand, it has non-harmful contents, like being flame resistant.

It gives parents a peace of mind, knowing that they got the best stuff for their babies. We would do everything to protect them, and knowing what kind of chemicals is put everywhere now... well, getting organic furniture and bedding is a good bet no matter the amount spent.

Very nice sets!! I, personally, love the color combos. They're very soft, warm, and cozy. I also like how they're stuffed with maize.

Regular mattresses can containPDBEs, antimony, decabromodiphenyl oxide, ammonium polyphosphate, boric acid, silica and melamine.
If you think these are safe, please do a search on google for 'antimony'.

i love the unisex colors, very warm and relaxing. organic is the only way to go for your children. will start them off in a healthy way. it's also nice to see organic bedding starting to get some style instead of the same solid colors!
