Tune in on June 4th at 6pm to see the launch of Planet Green, the first and only 24-hour eco-lifestyle television network.

Planet Green is a new TV network that will be broadcasting eco related shows 24 hours a day. Starting off the broadcast on Wednesday is the show, "Hollywood Green with Maria Menounos." Planet Green's description of the show:

Hosted by the popular Maria Menounos, "Hollywood Green" is our one-hour entertainment newsmagazine series that integrates eco-conscious celebrity lifestyle segments in a sophisticated-yet-fun-to-watch style.

The rest of the channel's kick-off evening includes the shows, "Supper Club," "G Word," "Wa$ted," "Stuff Happens," "Mean Green Machines," "Renovation Nation," and "Alter Eco."

With the increasing number of eco-themed television shows that have been coming out lately, it isn't a surprise to me that they've dedicated a whole channel to the idea. I've been seeing channels lately dedicating blocks of time to green episodes of shows, and there are lots of them. Most of the shows on Planet Green, however, are going to be original. "Living With Ed," with Ed Begley, Jr., is going to be one that is ported over from HGTV. Other celebrities that will be seen on the channel include Dancing with the Stars' Tom Bergeron, Emeril Lagasse, Tommy Lee, and Ludacris (yes, you heard me right!). Leonardo DiCaprio will be executive producing a show called Greensburg, about a town devastated by a tornado which is being rebuilt to be eco-friendly. As great as that is, part of me can't help but wonder if they saw an opportunity and snatched it (the town's real name actually is Greensburg, see what I'm saying?)

Planet Green is going to be taking over the channel that is currently Discovery Home. To find the channel for your television service, check here.

  1. Hey there,
I really love your site and all that you do to promote green living. I see that you've been posting about the various shows on the Planet Green network. Feel free to check me out as I have some clips from many of the shows as well. As always, take care and keep living green.
