I love trees. Most of the regular readers here know that. They are beautiful, they make their surroundings more beautiful, they clean the air... I could go on and on. Deforestation for the period from 1990-2005 happened at a rate of about 130,000 km2 per year, and, frankly, that makes me angry.
While I prefer to avoid printing whenever possible to help save trees (I'm big on jotting my notes down on spent envelopes and other scrap), sometimes printing is unavoidable. Businesses find use with business cards and flyers, and, with the holidays coming, greeting cards filling up our mailboxes is inevitable. While e-cards are an increasingly popular option, some still enjoy receiving and giving tangible greetings.
When printing can't be avoided, finding green printing company is important. Green printing companies use recycled paper and recycle their waste. Some go further than that, and PSPrint is one of those companies. They offer 100% recycled paper for most of their printed products, and they also recycle all of their paper waste. Not only that, but they use soy based inks instead of petroleum based, which reduces the emission of VOCs (volatile organic compounds), and is better for the environment and the air quality of the workplace.
PSPrint offers a lot of options from brochure printing, calendars, and greeting cards, to posters, postcards, stickers, and more. They also offer graphic services and free templates, which you can use to design your product for them to print.

Thank you for the recommendation. I am starting to look for business card options, and was hoping to go local, but PS may be a friendlier alternative.

Thanks for the pointer! I guess we should all try to do that so to save the earth.

This is great information to share, as it is rare for most companies to bother asking what products and methods their printers use. This level of awareness needs to be raised for all industries.

I always use the classic signature in my email that prompts people only to print the email out if absolutely necessary. The problem is I think that people get so used to seeing this that they stop noticing!

Thanks for the recommendation! I have a hard time reading everything exclusively on the computer screen so I reuse and buy 100% recycled paper. I use a local green printer, but the one you listed seems to much more reasonable cost wise.

Heidi and Carla, local usually is a better choice, especially if your local printer is green in their practices. Buying local reduces your products carbon footprint because you can avoid shipping.
Tamara, I always notice that in people's signatures, especially when they display it in green!

This is a fabulous. I'm not as green as I wish I could be. But I am always looking for ways to do my part.

That's a great idea, Stefanie!
Another tip I can add to this is don't waste paper getting your bills printed on paper! You can and should handle all of your bills online.
Thanks again,
Geo

That is really great! I read one blog similar to this before it's about the soy based ink used for printing and I was really amazed! Green printing will not only save our environment, focusing on the trees, but it will also help save us our budget. It is also wise to use eCards as form of greetings because it can go anywhere to share your thoughts and appreciation and it may be also a form of advertisement for your company or personal business plus it will of course cost less.

Thanks for sharing and reminding us on green printing. It is really something that can save a lot of woods on planet.
I always try save as much as possible documents in e-format, rather to print them and store them somewhere else.

Yeah, the deforestation is spreading like a wild fire and we should do something with it, before it's too late...
Therefore, I will try this green printing stuff!

Geo, online bill pay is a great way to save paper, that's what we do here.
While green printing is the way to go if you must print, avoiding printing is always best, when possible.
