The work that I create is usually traditionally influenced but in a modern style. My design philosophy is based on versatility, comfort, and sustainability. I'm often inspired by things that seem commonplace, from the curve of a leaf to a crack in the sidewalk. I hope that my work will bring that sense of childlike wonder and joy into your life as well. - Laura Su on Prismera Design
When most people look at a leaf or a flower, they see a plant, but when Laura Su looks at these plants, she sees inspiration for pieces that are works of art. Prismera Design eco-friendly jewelry includes pieces that are just that - works of art.
Laura Su is a designer based in New York who began her career after attending the Rhode Island School of Design and majoring in illustration. She has been creating her jewelry, which includes primarily botanical silhouettes, since 2004. One of her lines, noctiflora, was inspired by the nocturnal garden - flowers that bloom exclusively at night. All of her eco-friendly jewelry pieces are created with stainless steel made from recycled materials.
I don't wear much jewelry, but when I do, I usually prefer non-metal, such as hemp cord and shells, but Laura's pieces are beautiful and unique enough to get my attention. My personal favorite pieces are the Moonvine Line Necklace and the Small Primrose Necklace.
Of her noctiflora collection, Laura says:
When I began to design these pieces, I considered the delicate forms of the Cereus and others like it. Night blooming flowers rarely have any color; most are shades of white, which glow softly with reflected light. They have an ethereal and mysterious quality that I wanted to capture in this collection.
Not only are the noctiflora and flora & folium collections made from recycled material, but 10% of all profits go to Keep America Beautiful.

Nice designs. Even better when followed by a good cause. Personally I love Gemstone Jewelry but variety always add to one's collection no matter its gems, gold, beads, shells or stainless steel.

It is refreshing for me to see these eco-friendly jewelry with unique design. I have been in jewelry industry for a while. I think I have got tired to see those pieces by mass production already. But these are really awesome.
