Greenwashing... we've all heard of it. Many companies insist that they are green, but don't follow through, or like Bill there, don't do a whole lot. FirstAgain.com says they are different, and are doing their best to prove it. FirstAgain is a company that provides loans for people with "excellent credit." What does that mean? I'm not sure, exactly, but they do it this way so that the simple loan process is like a reward for maintaining your credit.
Not only do they provide loans for standard loan items, such as cars, but they also provide solar financing. They say that during business hours, you will receive a response within minutes of submitting your loan. The loan process is entirely online and paperless, the first of its kind. Definitely something to be proud of. They are also providing a $250 reimbursement to cover the cost of replacing your bulbs with CFLs to customers who finance a solar loan with them through the end of 2008. Already have CFLs or don't want to replace your current bulbs (waiting for LEDs?)? That's fine, they'll give you a $100 gift card to GreenHome.com.

While I think it's great that there is a company providing low interest loans for solar financing, I wonder if there is any program like this for people with just "good" credit?

Isn't it like 10,000-15,000 to make your home solar?

I can see why they'd finance solar power. Governments also provide tax related incentives to make your household run on solar.
The fact of the matter is that with the technology right now, it's not economical to go solar and during this sub prime mess and economic downturn, no one wants to spend more money.

Although home solar panel did cost you a sum of money in the beginning, but it will last for over 50 years, which you will save a lot of electricity bills in the end...

Jordans, I'm not sure the exact number, but it is quite expensive.
Air Jordans, it's true that most people cannot afford to invest in such a project now, but some actually would be interested in having the option available. For example, for someone who is building a home now, solar panels might be an option worth looking into. The economy may be experiencing a downturn, but not everyone is putting a halt to home improvements.
Wilson, that's very true.

Home solar panels aid in the solar power energy that can reduce or evne replace
the use of other electricity options.

Being in the solar business I must say it is very exciting when us moving forward with alternative energy and getting the funding it deserves. It means we are moving in the right direction and soon every major manufacturer will most likely follow the trend. Alternative energy will be the norm very soon I think

Solar and wind are the future and the present, because so many people install solar PV or solar water heating panels. I have owned a solar panel from 2003 but I am going to buy solar photovoltaic panels.

Currently there is a $1500 rebate for the cost of solar. If this company is not giving it to the customer, then they are keeping it for themselves.

I think this is a great idea, spread the responsibility and make it easier for home owners at a time like this. In my neck of the woods, grants are given to households that use solar power at home, which helps a whole lot.

Solar panels are definately the way to go. Tax incentives would obviously help joe public greatly in realising the dream. In the mean time I'm working towards improving the insullation of my 30s semi. The front door has been replaced by an excellant company 'compositedoorshop'. Now I'm on the look out for a good quality, fairly costed double glazing company to replace the 80 year old leaky windows. I figure afther 80 years enough is enough.
