Your smile is one of the first things people see when they look at you, which is one reason why it is so important to many to keep it looking beautiful. So many people don't realize, though, that they could actually be doing themselves harm with their traditional mouth care products. In a world of products loaded with alcohol, preservatives, sweeteners, and sodium laureth sulfate, it can be difficult to find an alternative.
I was very happy to hear from The Natural Dentist when I did. I had just been to the dentist, where I was told I had a small cavity. Ugh! I've been using Tom's toothpaste, and while I'm not entirely disappointed with it, I was happy to try an alternative.
I received a tube of Peppermint Twist toothpaste and a bottle of Peppermint Sage mouthwash. Regular readers of Focus Organic know that I get nervous trying new foods and drinks, but for some reason, trying new dental care products doesn't bother me. I tried the toothpaste without hesitation. No exaggeration, this was definitely one of the best tasting toothpastes I've ever used. To me, it tastes a bit like that cinnamon gum that burns your throat, but without the burn. Maybe that makes no sense, but that's the way I described it to Andrew before he tried it. To my amazement, he liked it as well (he HATED Tom's)!
I usually use an electric toothbrush, but have temporarily switched to a regular one, until I replace the head on my electric. I tried The Natural Dentist with my manual toothbrush, and my teeth were left feeling more clean than they did using any other toothpaste with my electric toothbrush. No dryness or chalky mouth after, either.
Next, I tried the mouthwash. Actually, it's "The Natural Dentist All Natural Antigingivitis Rinse." While the flavor wasn't as good as the Peppermint Twist toothpaste, it wasn't bad. I know a lot of people shy away from mouthwashes because of the "burn," but this product doesn't burn at all, just leaves your mouth feeling refreshed. There is a Peppermint Twist mouthwash (The Natural Dentist Healthy Gums Mouth Rinse), so I may try that after I finish this bottle.
I was worried I might not be able to find The Natural Dentist products at stores near me, but was very happy to find that the Walgreens down the street sells it. Other stores that carry the products include CVS, Stop n Shop, Shaw's, Rite Aid... To find a store near you, or an online retailer, click here.
For a limited time, The Natural Dentist is offering a printable coupon for $1.50 off any product, so get yours here. Expires July 31st.

It's great to see a line of products besides Toms that makes a quality natural dental product. They also have a $2 coupon on their site that I am going to use at my local natural market.

You don't really think about it, but washing all the sulfates down the drain is also a problem with toothpaste! Thanks for the heads up....I'm totally digging what you're putting down! peace, k.

Hi Stephanie,
Looks like a great product, too bad it's not available in Canada yet. Thanks for exposing me to what looks to be a great new dental health product.

These products seem to be very good! Anyway, everyone must visit the dentist at least once a year!

This is an interesting find...I hadn't heard of this product before this article. Just like any other toothpaste or oral hygiene product, it does no good just sitting in the tube. People need to actually use it! Hopefully, with it being natural, it may entice some people to brush more often.
Thanks for the article on this item.

I've seen a lot of patients come in using the Natural Dentist and seem to be really happy with it. As a hygienist I am happy with them too - it's much easier to clean their teeth

This looks like a great product that I'd like to offer some of my patients. I'm curious what the price difference is between this product and standard hygiene products?
