I've seen some strange looking bugs before, but these definitely take the cake. I suppose, though, if they were as common to me as your everyday housefly or carpenter ant, they wouldn't be as weird, but they would still be beautiful (or a little scary, as is the case of one of the bugs to follow!). And to the bugs: weird is good, don't let anyone tell you it isn't!

  1. Bugs are pretty creepy, I really hate spiders and roaches, but since I live around a lot of trees we get a lot of those. I must say however that the bugs you have pictured here are quite inruiging and beautiful.

  2. Very beautiful site layout! I'm not a big fan of bugs myself but those are some nice and interesting pictures. As long as they stay out of my house...I'm good!

  6. I have never given insects any further thoughts. But with your pictures, that has changed. The photos are just beautiful.

  7. It's like insects have a whole different world than us. Look at the one with the sucker face on it. That is by far the craziest!
I look at these photos and imagine them all talking to one another, and or being neighbors! Like the movie Ants! I bet bugs do talk! Great photos there! Please tell us what camera brand/type you used.

  8. Rockstar, bugs don't normally bother me, but we get brown recluse spiders, which are pretty poisonous. Now I freak out a little when I see a spider.

B.M. Garrett, I'm not a big fan either, but they have their purpose! And ladybugs and bumble bees are cute :)

Tre, yeah, you definitely should have taken pictures!!!

Heidi, #5 is beautiful, isn't it?

    Abhinav, that they are :)

Verner, glad you enjoyed the post!

Pete, lol yeah the one with the sucky looking thing is the one that creeped me out a little. Bugs do talk, in a way. Ants, for example, know when one of their kind has been killed and come to the area. The killed ant gives off some scent, if I remember correctly, which is why, when you're trying to get rid of ants, the worst thing you can do is kill them. I actually didn't take the photos (see credits beneath the pictures).

  9. That sort of seems stupid for the ants to come running to the danger! Maybe they think they are going to protect their family. I will say this I would like to know more about that sucker faced bug! Now I've gotta go dig on Google! lol

    Thanks for the response!

  10. Pete, it does seem stupid, doesn't it? I don't remember if I read of it, but I'm sure there's a reason they do that!

I wish I knew what the bug was to tell you...
